So I'm doing this again... I like lyrics quizzes, and this time it's based on the 13000+ songs off my HD rather than the 100 songs I'd just put on my mp3 player. Hopefully this will make it more of a challenge and still be fun! Also, I have edited the last quiz with the names of the songs no one guessed.

I have a great love of miso soup. Once upon a time, I tried making my own miso soup, and it was bland and unappealing. Some of you may think that miso soup is generally bland and unappealing even when it's made well - this was way worse than that.
Yesterday I tried again, this time getting a recipe that had a much longer list of ingredients hoping that it would have more flavor. It turned out to be the most hearty, thick, chock-full-o-stuff miso soup I've ever seen. One pound of bok choy, a brick of tofu, and 3.5 ounces of shiitake mushrooms is a lot of food.
Between the two of us (and one major appliance), Matt and I have managed to break three glass carafes for our French press since September 1st.
Matt is shaking the grounds out of the carafe into the trash, and accidentally bangs the glass on something hard in the trash. It cracks and later breaks completely.
The carafe is put into the dishwasher to get clean. It comes out with a big crack in it and later breaks completely.
I pick up the handle of the metal carafe holder to pour myself some coffee. I tip the pot over my cup. The carafe slides out of the holder, hits my mug, and the spout breaks in half. Luckily, my mug remains undamaged.
We had managed to keep the first of these carafes for years and now we destroy them left and right. We are planning to get a stainless steel French press as a replacement since glass versions are unsafe in our hands (and are costing us way more over time than coffee pots should). If we manage to destroy the stainless steel version, I'm done with coffee.
Archaeologists have unearthed a 4,000-year-old temple in Peru. I think that's awesome. Another reason to go to Peru!

His team found a wall painting — which depicts a deer caught in a net — after discovering a staircase leading up to a hidden altar. ... The stairway caught their attention because it is an architectural oddity in that region, Alva said. Also strange, the temple was built from blocks of river sediment rather than adobe or stone, he said. ... He said some of the artifacts found in Ventarrón suggest that the region of Lambayeque was a cultural exchange point between Peru's Pacific coast and other regions.
His team, for example, found ceremonial offerings including the skeletons of a parrot and a monkey that would have come from Peru's jungle regions.
They also found shells that would have come from coastal Ecuador, he said.
Such exciting stuff! It's an impressive find. What makes it even more exciting is that it was built at roughly the same time (if not slightly earlier!) as the Great Pyramids of Egypt, but is more technologically advanced and on the other side of the world. I can't wait to hear updates as more information about this find is released. It fascinates me.
Now more news sites are covering the story, but I was entertained by the fact that the best coverage for the first few days seemed to be from The Scotsman, in Scotland. Kudos to that paper/reporter.

Break out the garlic necklaces! Corey Haim and Corey Feldman are set to reprise the roles that made them famous in a sequel to 1987's vampire-slayer hit The Lost Boys. And the catering crew might want to stock up on Gatorade: This straight-to-DVD version is set in the world of extreme sports. Lost Boys II: The Tribe is "like X Games meets Jackass," says exec producer Mary Viola. "Today's vampires are adrenaline junkies." In addition to Haim and Feldman, Boys features another casting coup: Angus Sutherland (half brother of original Boys star Kiefer), who appears with The O.C.'s Autumn Reeser and American Pie Presents: Band Camp's Tad Hilgenbrinck.
The news comes three weeks after an episode of the A&E reality series The Two Coreys aired, in which Haim was shown crying when Feldman informed him that they wouldn't be in the sequel. (Feldman's manager says that when the episode was filmed last winter, only his client had been approached. Viola, however, says the filmmakers just began casting a few weeks ago and always hoped to feature the duo.) Now the 35-year-old Haim says he's "super-stoked" about the sequel, which he describes as "dark and deep — think The Crow meets Point Break." And that's all he'll say. "I can't give any secrets! I've waited 20 years for this. I'm not gonna ruin anything for anybody, even myself."
This morning at 3:30am when I was vaguely awake I thought it would be great to write a novel about the 80s called 1987. It would be a satirical work in the style of Orwell's 1984.
We finally started watching Flight of the Conchords on HBO. The dialogue and acting aren't fantastic, but sometimes it's funny. Plus Bret and Germaine have a quality to them, maybe it's awkwardness or a lack of social grace, that I find entertaining because it's endearing. It's an okay show. But people aren't watching the show for the fantastic acting or cool special effects, they're watching for the clever songs. So I give you Flight of the Conchords - The Good Parts Version! All songs all the time!

I may have asked this before, but I'd like to ask again...
Please recommend books to me! I like reading, and I like to get recommendations from other people as to what they think is good. I'm hoping for both fiction and non-fiction. I generally enjoy fiction more, but maybe there's some non-fiction reading out there that is secretly really good and has eluded me until now.
This $30 Showcase of all 5 Best Picture Nominees is tempting even though and because it involves sitting in a theater for 12 hours. Plus I haven't seen a single nominated movie! I have to get in at least one before Oscar night.

Today's Front Pages - A neat site where you can look at the front page of 557 different newspapers from around the world. The site will give you a small image, a larger pdf where you can actually read the front page, and then a link to the website of the newspaper if you're interested in more. I enjoy seeing what the rest of the world's papers think is important.
Minneapolis Traffic Map - This is a site I use almost daily when I want to drive around during rush hour or if the weather is bad. It combines information from various traffic data sources onto a Google map of the Twin Cities. It will display information on the speed of traffic and the rate of traffic flow at many locations on every highway, will allow you to view still images from (what seems like) any traffic cam in the city, and will display information about accidents and construction and how they might influence your travel. It's awesome.
Top Chef - If you like reality TV and cooking shows, you'll probably enjoy this because it combines the ideas. Each show, the contestants participate in a Quickfire Challenge (which grants one of them immunity from elimination) and then an Elimination Challenge in which one of them is told to pack their knives and go. I love cooking shows, so this is great. There's been a Quickfire where they had to create a dish based on a color. Another where they were given $10 in quarters and had to create an amuse-buche from items found in vending machines. Also, an Elimination Challenge to create a 7-course meal where each course is based on one of the seven deadly sins. I love the creativity of the chefs involved. It airs on Bravo, but I've been bittorrenting it.
